Helichrysum Italicum

From these tiny ‘everlasting’ flowers, we obtain a magical essential oil that is safe, non-toxic and highly beneficial in many applications.  The oil is also known as either Everlasting or Immortelle.

Helichrysum essential oil is a wonderful oil for babies and children, in their baths, or used in massages. Blend with Mandarin to make a beautiful fragrance. It is great to use for children bumps and bruises as it contains powerful anti-bruising agents. Due to the anticoagulant properties of this oil, it is not recommended if you’re going into surgery or have recently undergone surgery.

It promotes the release of gastric juices, vital to breaking down food and preventing indigestion. With the help of this oil, bile is secreted, helping to neutralize acidity, pr venting stomach aches and bloating.

The oil also has anti-spasmodic properties which may help calm asthma attacks and the spasmodic coughing of whooping cough.

Having anti-inflammatory properties, it is a very helpful oil for use in massage for arthritis and rheumatism. Helichrysum improves circulation and helps reduce muscle pain, swelling and inflammation. People suffering from arthritis, neuropathy and fibromyalgia will find relief using this essential oil.

The anti-microbial and antibiotic properties of Helichrysum oil make it a great alternative acne treatment. It will help treat the acne without drying and irritating the skin.  The oil is also superb for healing scars and promoting the regeneration of collagen and healthy new skin. Add a drop of Helichrysum and three drops of Lavender to a tablespoon of Grapeseed oil and massage into scars, keloids and stretch marks.

To obtain immediate relief from sunburn, blend 1-3 drops Helichrysum with Coconut oil and apply directly to the affected area.

Clinical studies have shown that Helichrysum oil inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria, viruses and fungi, making it extremely useful in supporting the immune system.

Add a few drops to a warm bath to help promote feelings of calmness. A few drops in a diffuser will also help create a calm environment as well as destroy airborne allergens.

There has not been enough scientific testing for the use of this oil during pregnancy and breastfeeding, so please avoid during this time.
