Mandarin essential oil is a cheerful and delightful oil, extracted by cold expression of the peel of the fruit. It has a light, citrus aroma quite similar to that of Orange essential oil. It is an uplifting, calming and balancing oil and added to a diffuser will make the room smell wonderful. Mandarin is often used in soaps, cosmetics and perfumes. It is an extremely popular oil as it is safe to use by children as well as pregnant women.

Mandarin has been used for the relief of many conditions including stomach cramps, indigestion, constipation, depression, anxiety, grief, nervousness, PMS, stretch marks and skin ailments such as acne and oily skin. It helps improve blood circulation in the skin, enhancing the suppleness of the skin and reducing scars and marks on the skin. It is generally a non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitising essential oil, but it is photo-toxic and should not be applied before going into the sun as it may cause sensitivity and pigmentation. This wonderful oil promotes the growth of new cells and tissues, helping speed up the healing time of wounds.

This oil is a real tonic for the body. It tones up the organic systems and boosts the function of the immune system. Mandarin also improves circulation of the lymphatic system and improves circulation. It helps remove toxic substances from the body and assists with the prevention of boils, acne, gout and arthritis.

Two drops of Mandarin oil in 5ml of a carrier oil such as sesame seed or grapeseed, is good as a tummy rub to help with flatulence, indigestion, bloating, flatulence and gastritis. It will stimulate the production of digestive juices to aid digestion and it will give relief to those cramps and spasms in the intestines. You could also add three drops Mandarin oil and three drops Marjoram oil to a warm bath to help relieve muscle aches and digestive discomfort. Mandarin also helps strengthen and protect the liver.

Two or three drops of Mandarin oil in a warm evening bath will help you relax you and calm down attacks of stress, anxiety, epilepsy, hysteria and convulsions. Mandarin assists in easing and reducing inflammatory and nervous disorders. Three drops of the oil in your diffuser or vapouriser will help ease anxiety, restlessness, fear, fatigue, irritability, stress and other negative emotions. This will also help with children who are over-excited in the evenings.

Mandarin blends well with Basil, Bergamot, Black Pepper, Coriander, Chamomile, Grapefruit, Lavender, Lemon, Lime, Marjoram, Neroli, Palmarosa, Petitgrain and Rose.
