This strong, powerful and invigorating essential oil which smells like a pine forest, is a long time healing remedy for fighting off germs and disinfecting homes. As you would imagine from the fragrance that envelopes you in a pine forest, the essential oil has a wonderful effect on the respiratory system, helping relieve any congestion and break down mucus build-up. It is also very beneficial for reducing sinus infections, easing bronchial infections and relieving coughing, wheezing and asthmatic conditions.
To fight off colds, sinus infections and flu, use Pine oil in diffusers and as steam inhalations.  Add two drops to a basin of warm water and inhale the vapours. Drape a towel over your head and the basin for effective inhalation.  A drop of Pine, a drop of Lavender and a drop of Lemon oil in a diffuser will effectively destroy the germs around the room and ease the grumpiness that colds and flu germs bring with them. Add a drop of Pine oil and a drop of Lavender oil to 5ml of a carrier oil, then rub into the chest and neck area.  This blend can be used on the rest of the body too to relieve muscle aches and pains too.
For skin conditions such as athlete’s foot, eczema, boils, psoriasis and acne, Pine oil is also beneficial.  Add a few drops of Pine oil to a basin of hot water and rest your feet in it to help with athlete’s foot or other infections.
Pine oil deals effectively with bacteria, fungi and household odours.  Use it in the water you use to wipe surfaces, clean appliances, clean floors and even spray into the atmosphere to disinfect the rooms, especially if there are sick family members – this will help prevent the spread of germs.  Pine oil has been shown to be effective in destroying household germs such as fungal spores, E.coli and mildew.  It works wonderfully on cleaning smelly carpets and pet sleeping areas. Add 10-15 drops to the water that you would use to scrub or steam the carpet with, leave in the sun to dry and the clean pine aroma will continue to keep the area smelling fresh.
